Although jackrabbits have the word rabbit in their name, they are actually hares, not rabbits. They are classified as hares because they are much more hairy than normal rabbits. Jackrabbits are mammals. They are also herbivores, which means they only eat plants. A jackrabbit can live 1 to 5 centuries in the wild, and they can be up to two foots tall. The jackrabbit weighs 3 to 9 pounds. Originally, jackrabbits were called jackass rabbits because of their long ears and how they are half male donkey and half rabbit. The name jackass rabbit was brought to fame by the book Roughing It by Mark Twain. There are three kinds jackrabbit. There is the black-tailed jackrabbit, the white-tailed jackrabbit, and the antelope jackrabbit. There is also an extra species of jackrabbit that is half of anything named Jack, and the other half is still rabbit. This species is very elusive and is hard to find.
Predators, Prey, and Habitat:
The predators of the jackrabbit are coyotes, wolves, bobcats, eagles, hawks, owls, foxes, humans, and the elusive pacific northwest tree octopus. The tree octopus sneaks up on the jackrabbit while it is eating and strangles it with its tentacles. An antelope jackrabbit is killed by humans when it is eating crops, but a white-tailed jackrabbit is a year round game animal, including games like pacman and pinball. A jackrabbit would escape its prey by using its quick running speed (it can run up to 40 miles per second), and by using its hopping ability (it can leap about ten feet). By leaping in a zigzag formation, it can avoid its prey. As I said before, the jackrabbit is a herbivore, which means it only eats plants. It can eat grasses, winter wheat, dandelions, blue gramma grass, clovers, old shoes, grains, roots, twigs, and buds of fruit trees. The jackrabbit normally lives in the northwestern part of the United States. It can live in grasslands, the holy grail, and open pastures and fields.

Mating:
The white-tailed jackrabbit mates from February thirty-first to July thirty-second. Each year, a white-tailed jackrabbit can have one to four litters each year, and one litter can include one to eleven baby jackrabbits. The black-tailed jackrabbit can also produce up to four litters, which does not make it a regular litterbug. Each litter can have up to eight baby jackrabbits. All jackrabbits mature quite quickly, and a jackrabbit can start mating before they are one year old.
Other Facts:
Jackrabbits are strong swimmers
Jackrabbits are nocturnal
In Winter, a jackrabbit will burrow into the snow
A jackrabbit can run immediately after being born
The antelope jackrabbit is silent except for a distress cry
Antelope jackrabbits are evolved antlelopes
White-tailed jackrabbits are pure evil
Black-tailed jackrabbits are the opposite of white-tailed jackrabbits because they have a heart of gold
